Five Strange Facts About Chocolate

You might think of yourself as a chocolate genius, but here are five strange facts about chocolate you've probably never heard before! Sit back and prepare to be amazed: your favorite food is even stranger than you ever realized!

1. Chocolate is responsible for the microwave.

Don't believe it? It's the truth! Scientists were initially experimenting with micro waves in the hopes of creating a better radar detector. In the wake of WWII, scientists continued to test devices called magnetrons. On one such lab, a scientist named Percy Spencer happened to stroll through with a chocolate bar in his pocket.

When he discovered the melted chocolate, Spencer realized that he might be able to use the magnetron to cook food. He tried popping corn (successfully) and then thought he'd give real food a try. His first experiment? An egg, which cooked so quickly it blew up in his face!

2. Chocolate is a serious American staple.

Some interesting facts about chocolate consumption in the U.S. of A.:

-American chocolate companies use 1.5 billion pounds of milk every year.

-Americans consume almost half of the world's annual chocolate products

-Every Russian and American space voyage has included chocolate bars.

3. Throughout history, we've had a love-hate affair with chocolate.

You know the drill: you love the stuff, but you could really do without the sugar highs, added pounds, and guilt factor that come from chocolate. Well, in the category of past strange facts about chocolate: during the 16th and 17th centuries, the church was a watchtower of health and waistlines: eating chocolate was considered a sin! By the 18th century, however, people considered chocolate a medicine. It was especially popular as a treatment for stomach aches (and I bet a woman came up with that!).

4. Chocolate really can be deadly.

You're not the only one who craves chocolate, you know. Chocolate is extremely addictive for our canine companions! Small amounts of chocolate may not hurt your dog, but once a dog develops a taste for the sweet, it'll stop at nothing to get more. And in large amounts, chocolate can lead to epileptic seizures and poisoning.

The poisonous part of chocolate is a chemical called theobromine. It's harmless to humans, but deadly to dogs.

5. There are a lot of myths about chocolate.

There are a lot of strange facts about chocolate out there, but a lot of MISinformation, too! For example:

-Chocolate is not particularly high in caffeine. You would have to eat ten chocolate bars to get the same amount of caffeine as you find in a single cup of coffee.

-There is absolutely no link between chocolate and acne, as any modern dermatologist will happily tell you.

-Chocolate is good for you -- unfortunately, its additives aren't! Pure cocoa powder is full of iron and antioxidants. Add sugar or butter, though, and the calories begin to mount.

Chocolate isn't only delicious, it's a fascinating and even exciting treat! Grab yourself a few ounces and keep surfing for strange facts about chocolate.

Zylkin turns old typewriter to iPad keyboards

The USBTypewriter is a new and groundbreaking innovation in the field of obsolescence. Lovers of the look, feel, and quality of old fashioned manual typewriters can now use them as keyboards for any USB-capable computer, such as a PC, Mac, or even iPad! The modification is easy to install, it involves no messy wiring, and does not change the outward appearance of the typewriter (except for the usb adapter itself, which is mounted in the rear of the machine). So the end result is a retro-style USB keyboard that not only looks great, but feels great to use.

After learning about the design on this page, please visist my etsy page -- I have some very beautiful USB Typewriters for sale there, as well as DIY kits for those who want to make their own. You can also use etsy to contact me about custom work.

Topi ‘tandas’ dijual RM405,000

Jane Taylor, who created the wedding hat worn by the Countess of Wessex, said: "My inspiration was beauty and elegance; it's a 21st-century royal wedding. They didn't tell me what they wanted because I've known them for a long time and I wanted them to look gorgeous and beautiful."

Heeeee...ok la tu kot...:D

Sukan pelik orang Britain

Selamat Hari Ibu...

"assalamualaikum.. along, angah, adik, bangun.. subuh dah ni.."

"ASSALAMUALAIKUM MAK! SELAMAT PAGI!

"terima kasih.. sayang anak-anak mak.."

Si Tiga Beradik memandang sesama sendiri sambil mengenyitkan mata.

"MISI SUPRISE BERJAYA!" serentak lagi teriakan mereka sambil menunjukkan ibu jari masing-masing.

"SARAPAN DAH SIAP!" tiba-tiba Si Tiga Beradik muncul. Dapur menjadi terang benderang.

Romantik sungguh. Mak tersenyum lagi. Hampir-hampir matanya berkaca-kaca. Namun keterharuan itu diluahkan dengan lisan penghargaan.

"terima kasih, bang.." sambil Mak mendakap Abah. "terima kasih along, angah, adik.." Mak mengusap kepala Si Tiga Beradik pula.

America's Most Expensive Homes for Sale, 2011

Interested in a home with 23 bathrooms? Perhaps interior marble columns, a private grill house, or three swimming pools are the must-have amenities you’ve been waiting for? These features and more make up the swank mansions in our 2011 ranking of the most expensive listed homes for sale in America.

All priced above $50 million, this year’s round-up is a mix of new extreme eye candy and some repeat performers from the 2010 list, including the Spelling Manor, which tops our list for a second time with an unchanged and staggering asking price of $150,000,000.

Here are the top five most expensive single family homes currently for sale:

5. Madison Ave Townhouse
Location: 1016 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10075
For Sale: $72 Million

The Madison Avenue Townhouse in Manhattan.

This 7-story New York townhouse appeared on Zillow’s “Most Expensive Homes” list in September 2010 and, with an unchanged asking price of $72 million, has snagged a returning spot. Located on prestigious Madison Avenue, this rare piece of Upper East Side real estate is fully renovated and retains all of its original architectural details. It contains 12,000 sq ft, 10 bedrooms, a central staircase, and elevator. It is owned by a rare-maps dealer.

4. Versailles
Location: 6121 Kirkstone Lane, Windermere, FL 34786
For Sale: $100 million

This Windermere, FL mansion is dubbed Versailles

It may not be the most expensive property on the market, but the gigantic Windermere, FL mansion, known as “Versailles,” is reported to be America’s “largest single family home under one roof.” The palace-like estate, architecturally inspired by the royal residence of Louis XIV, is situated on a 10-acre peninsula along the shoreline of Lake

Butler. While the breathtaking property is still under construction, offered at $75 million “as-is” or $100 million finished, the 66,800-sq ft is blueprinted to include every thinkable amenity a homeowner could imagine. Listed in May 2010, this Windermere real estate gem features 13 bedrooms, 23 bathrooms, three pools, a baseball field, two tennis courts, grand hall, two grand staircases, two-story wine cellar, indoor roller rink, movie theater with a balcony, and his-and-her offices separated by a two-sided, 12-ft aquarium.

3. Frank Woolworth Estate

For sale: $90 Million

Retail magnate Frank W. Woolworth commissioned three townhouses to be built for each of his three daughters back in 1911. This one, designed by renowned architect Charles Pierpont Henry Gilbert, was completed in 1916 and is the biggest of the three. With a $90 million asking price, it became the priciest listing on the Manhattan real estate market when it was posted for sale this past March. The 35-ft wide, 7-story home boasts 18,000-sq ft, and has 10 bedrooms, 11.5 bathrooms, three kitchens, a paneled library, elevator, 14-ft ceilings, private gym, and a formal dining room with seating for up to 50 guests.

2. Tranquility
Location: 525 Highway 50, Zephyr Cove, NV 89449
For Sale: $100 Million

Tranquility is by Lake Tahoe in Zephyr Cove, NV.

Another most expensive homes veteran, “Tranquility” is the highest-priced listing in the state of Nevada. It also held the top spot on Zillow’s Most Expensive Homes list in 2009, until the Spelling Manor hit the market with its $150 million asking price. The 210-acre property, originally listed in 2008, is situated on its own private lake with a total of eight separate buildings including a 20,000-sq ft main residence. Also included on this rare piece of Zephyr Cove real estate is an art studio, boat house pavilion, gym with indoor basketball court, horse stable, two par-3 golf holes, and a 16-car garage. As if that wasn’t enough to explain the $100 million price tag, the prestigious property also comes fully furnished.

1. Spelling Manor
Location: 594 S Mapleton Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90024
For Sale: $150 Million

Spelling Manor in Los Angeles is in a league of its own.
Photo: Zillow

Not only does the Spelling Manor top our list of most expensive homes on Zillow for the second time in a row, but the 123-room mega-mansion, which hit the Los Angeles real estate market last September, is said to be the most expensive home for sale in the U.S. Current owner Candy Spelling (widow to late TV producer Aaron Spelling and mother to actress-turned-reality TV star Tori Spelling) purchased the property from legendary entertainer Bing Crosby. The French-chateau-style estate sits on 4.7 acres and illuminates luxury at every turn. Unique features of the three-story, 56,500-sq ft home include a 17,000-sq ft attic with a barbershop and salon, rooftop garden, two-lane bowling alley, service wing with staff quarters, China room, gift-wrapping room, and wine tasting room. According to a recent interview, the 63-year-old Spelling is downsizing from “The Manor” to a two-story Los Angeles condo she purchased for $47 million last year.

Most Expensive Cars 2011: Ten top list

What is the most expensive car in the world? The 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe was sold for $8,700,000 in 1987. However, that car and many alike will not be included in this list because it is not available on the market today. It is hard to imagine someone would actually spend 8 million dollars on a car instead of using it for something more productive. However, if you have the money and the opportunity, you will definitely spend a small fraction of it to place a few of these supercars in your garage. Here are the 10 most expensive production cars on the market.

2. Lamborghini Reventon $1,600,000. The most powerful and the most expensive Lamborghini ever built is the second on the list. It takes 3.3 seconds to reach 60 mph and it has a top speed of 211 mph. Its rarity (limited to 20) and slick design are the reasons why it is so expensive and costly to own.

3. McLaren F1 $970,000. In 1994, the McLaren F1 was the fastest and most expensive car. Even though it was built 15 years ago, it has an unbelievable top speed of 240 mph and reaching 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Even as of today, the McLaren F1 is still top on the list and it outperformed many other supercars.

4. Ferrari Enzo $670,000. The most known supercar ever built. The Enzo has a top speed of 217 mph and reaching 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. Only 400 units were produced and it is currently being sold for over $1,000,000 at auctions.

5. Pagani Zonda C12 F $667,321. Produced by a small independent company in Italy, the Pagani Zonda C12 F is the 5th fastest car in the world. It promises to delivery a top speed of 215 mph+ and it can reach 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.

6. SSC Ultimate Aero $654,400. Don't let the price tag fool you, the 6th most expensive car is actually the 2nd fastest street legal car in the world with a top speed of 257 mph+ and reaching 0-60 in 2.7 seconds. This baby cost nearly half as much as the Bugatti Veyron, yet has enough power to compete against the most expensive car. It is estimated that only 25 of this exact model will ever be produced.

7. Saleen S7 Twin Turbo $555,000. The first true American production certified supercar, this cowboy is also rank 3rd for the fastest car in the world. It has a top speed of 248 mph+ and it can reach 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. If you are a true American patriot, you can be proud to show off this car.

8. Koenigsegg CCX $545,568. Swedish made, the Koenigsegg is fighting hard to become the fastest car in the world. Currently, it is the 4th fastest car in the world with a top speed of 245 mph+, the car manufacture Koenigsegg is not giving up and will continue to try and produce the fastest car. Good luck with that!

9. Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren Roadster $495,000. A GT supercar, the SLR McLaren is the fastest automatic transmission car in the world with a top speed of 206 mph+ and reaching 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. It is a luxurious convertible with a really powerful engine, which results in outstanding performances and style.

10. Porsche Carrera GT $440,000. A supercar with dynamic stability control and a top speed of 205 mph+ and it can reach 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. The Porsche Carrera GT applies the absolute calibers of a true racing car to offer an unprecedented driving feeling on the road.
